About Me

Lorem IpsumI fell in love with user interface design work while pursuing a Masters in Library Science at North Carolina Central University. After completing my degree, while working at Dialog, I was a Web Designer for 7 years. I also served as a Webmaster for the North Carolina Special Libraries Association (NCSLA) for several years.

Transitioning to user experience (UX)

When Dialog was acquired by ProQuest from Thomson Reuters, I was asked to begin using my skills to focus on the conceptual design of ProQuest Professional online service. For more than 3 years, I worked with a team of UX designers using an agile methodology to visually flesh out the next generation product.

My Focus

Personas & Requirement Gathering

Persona development is critical to establishing primary requirements to differentiate a product going into a market or to identifying key functional needs.

Use cases & Information Architecture (IA)

Establishing use cases helps ensure what is being designed to meet the core needs of the user. IA documents such as site maps help provide clarity for what pages are being designed.

Wireframes & Prototypes

Wireframing and prototypes (low/high fidelity) help validate the design before going into the development stage.

A/B & Usability Testing

Testing further ensures that designs are accurate and helps indentify other needs, reinforcing that design is effective.
